Advice wanted

I am having quite a bit of trouble with capturing peoples likenesses from pictures of faces from a front on angle. Profiles, easy enough, I can just about do them, but in my many attempts at whole faces I just end up with a butchered mass of lines on a page that looks like a strangely mutated version of what I'm trying to draw. If anyone has any tips or advice on the matter, then please comment or message me with it.
